What You Need to Know about Primera Inks
Canadian and USA owners of Primera Technology color label printers can count on DuraFast Label Company for original Primera printer ink. We carry standard replacement
LX400, LX800/LX810, and LX900 ink cartridges as well as LX2000 ink cartridges and CX1000 and CX1200 toner cartridges.
Though some ink cartridges are compatible with multiple printers, Primera Technology label printers tend to have their own unique Primera inks.
Which Primera Printer Ink is Used in Multiple Label Printers?
LX400 ink cartridges are compatible with the LX400, LX800, and LX810. However, the LX400 only uses a single multicolor ink cartridge while the LX800 and LX810 use both a multicolor and a black Primera Technology ink cartridge. Thus, if you use the LX800 or LX810, you will also need to order black LX800 ink cartridges (or black LX810 ink cartridges).
To further complicate matters, dye-based black and pigment black LX800 cartridges (and LX810 ink cartridges) are available.
The LX500 color label printer, which is set to arrive in April 2016, will use single multicolor LX500 ink cartridges just like its predecessor, the LX400. LX500 ink cartridges are expected to be similar to LX400 ink cartridges.
Which Primera Inks are Label Printer Specific?
When it comes to the LX900 and LX2000 and their Primera inks, Canadian and USA customers have a couple of choices. LX900 ink cartridges are available with either dye-based or pigment-based inks. In order to use the new pigment LX900 ink cartridges, you will need the semi-permanent pigment ink print head for the LX900 color label printer. Regardless of ink type, the LX900 uses individual ink cartridges for cyan, magenta, yellow, and black ink. These ink cartridges are unique to the LX900 label printer. Please note that all of the Primera LX900 labels are only compatible with the LX900 dye-based inks. We can make custom labels to use with the pigment LX900 inks. We only recommend that you use the Primera dye-based inks with your LX900 for best print quality.
The same is true of the LX2000. It also uses individual LX2000 ink cartridges for each of the four colors. Primera Technology uses specially formulated pigment inks by Hewlett Packard in its LX2000 ink cartridges. These pigment inks produce the same durable results as other pigment-based inks, but on a much more diverse set of label materials. The LX2000 inks can also be used with all the Primera LX900 labels.
Which Primera Toner Cartridges are Available?
In addition to various ink cartridges such as LX400 ink cartridges, LX500 ink cartridges, LX800 ink cartridges, and LX810 ink cartridges, we also carry CX1200 and CX1000 toner cartridges.
Primera Technology’s CX1200 and CX1000 laser label printers use the same color toners and drums. Thus, you can use CX1000 toner cartridges and CX1200 toner cartridges interchangeably. They are the same for both machines.
Primera CX1000 toner cartridges are available for all four colors (cyan, magenta, yellow, and black) as are CX1200 toner cartridges. Since these toners are based on a Lexmark laser print engine, the toner and drum unit comes as one piece.
