Epson WF-C5790 First Page Out Time vs Xerox WorkCentre 6515/DN - 16 Page Speed Comparison

Epson WF-C5790 First Page Out Time vs Xerox WorkCentre 6515/DN - 16 Page Speed Comparison

Posted by BK on 1st Feb 2021

The Epson WF-C5790 colour inkjet printer and the Xerox WorkCentre 6515/DN laser office printer use different technologies (inkjet vs laser) to print business documents. Aside from their differences, these two business office printers have a lot in common. Let’s take a look and see how they compare.

Epson WF-C5790 at a Glance

The inkjet-based Epson WF-C5790 office printer uses Epson PrecisionCore Heat-Free Technology and long-lasting pigment inks. This is a multifunction printer that prints, scans, copies, and faxes. It includes Ethernet, wireless, and cloud connectivity for wired, wireless, and remote printing, including from mobile devices. With its 4800 dpi print resolution and durable pigment inks, the Epson WF-C5790 produces profession quality printouts. A long list of features make this is an outstanding colour multifunction printer for offices that print up to 2,500 pages per month.

The Epson WF-C5790 comes in two versions, one with a starter set of Replaceable Ink Pack System ink packs for $389 CAD, and a “Supertank” version that comes with two years’ worth of ink in the box for $999 CAD. Both versions bring down ink costs significantly, making inkjet printing more affordable than ever. The Epson WF-C5790 Supertank is an outstanding value.

As far as print speed goes, the Epson WF-C5790 is fast with a fast first page out and a print speed of up to 24 ISO pages per minute. Heat-Free Technology means the printer does not need to warm up first, and this can make a big difference when comparing it to the Xerox WorkCentre 6515/DN.

Xerox WorkCentre 6515/DN at a Glance

The Xerox WorkCentre 6515/DN colour laser office printer uses LED laser technology and black, cyan, magenta, and yellow laser toner cartridges. Like the Epson WF-C5790, the Xerox WorkCentre 6515/DN is a multifunction printer that prints, scans, copies, and faxes as well as offers network, wireless, and remote connectivity. It has a lower print resolution of up to 2400 dpi and is designed for workgroups of up to 7 people. The Xerox WorkCentre 6515/DN offers similar features to the Epson WF-C5790, making them well matched.

As a laser printer, the Xerox WorkCentre 6515/DN ($699 CAD) is fast — up to 30 ISO pages per minute. However, because it must warm up before printing, the speed difference between the two printers becomes minimal. In some cases, such as when printing a few pages, the Epson WF-C5790 may even finish printing before the Xerox WorkCentre 6515/DN has finished warming up. As you’ll see in the 16-page print speed comparison between the Epson WF-C5790 and the Xerox WorkCentre 6515/DN below, the Epson gets a big head start on the Xerox WorkCentre 6515/DN. The Xerox printer ultimately finishes first, but it’s close.
