Dye Inkjet Colour Label Printers
Dye inkjet colour label printers use dye-based inks to produce photo quality images with the most vibrant colours. Primera Technology was the first company to launch a dye based inkjet color label printer with its Primera LX800 followed by the Primera LX810, LX400, and LX900. Other manufacturers soon followed. For example, the VIPColor VP485 and Epson TM-C7500G (Gloss) both use dye-based inks to produce high resolution, full colour labels. Memjet-powered colour label printers, like the Afinia L801, L501 and Afinia L901, also use dye-based inks.
Advantages of Dye-based Inks
The benefits of using dye-based inks include:
- More vibrant and brighter colours than pigment inks
- The ability to print photographic quality images
- Works great with glossy synthetic materials like glossy clear labels and polypropylene and polyester labels like white, silver and gold.
Disadvantages of Dye-based Inks
Label durability can be a problem for some products, and exposure to sunlight can cause the color to fade. Labels are designed for indoor use only and cannot be immersed in water for lengthy periods.
